The Villans visit Old Trafford

By Olumide Lawal

It's time for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to focus on climbing the table in the Premier League as his team host Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Reds have been mostly inconsistent with results all through this calendar year and that was also evident in their 2-1 loss to Astana in the Europa League on Thursday. It was a game that had lots of academy youngsters since United has already qualified to the next round and just another result that didn't build on the second half performance at Sheffield last Sunday.

OGS obviously has the support of United hierarchy but the Norwegian needs to know the game is all about results nowadays with his supposed rivals (Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal) getting rid of their managers in recent days. Searchlights will be beamed on him if things don't change as soon as possible

The visitors haven't been doing badly and they've won the same amount of games as their hosts since they gained promotion back to the top flight. United have dropped 10 points from winning positions this season (most by any club) and they have to be wary of the threats Aston Villa pose.

Team News

Recently injured Scott McTominay could be back in action for United on Sunday but it's too early to think about a Paul Pogba return to the side as the Frenchman continues his recovery from an ankle injury.

After the game in Kazakhstan, Ole was optimistic about McTominay getting back into the side.

"We hope Scotty will be back as soon as possible, but he's also been back home and I've not seen him." Ole told reporters in Kazakhtan.

"Maybe (he will be fit to face) Spurs but hopefully on Sunday." the manager added.

The boss was not too sure about Paul Pogba though.

"Paul is stepping up his recovery and let's see how soon he'll be match fit and available." Ole said.

There could be a chance for academy graduate, Axel Tuanzebe, to face Aston Villa, the club he helped gained promotion last season after he completed full 90 minutes vs Astana on Thurday.

Probable lineup

(Formation; 3-4-3)

David de Gea

Victor Lindelof - Harry Maguire - Axel Tuanzebe

Aaron Wan Bissaka - Fred - Scott McTominay - Ashley Young

Daniel James - Anthony Martial - Marcus Rashford

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Aston Villa
